Tea You at the Altar by Rebecca Thorne
4.75
adventurous emotional funny lighthearted medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: No

Tea You At the Altar revolves around Reyna and Kianthe’s wedding planning season and culminates with the wedding itself, where they plan to overthrow the selfish and ineffective queen and establish her half-sister as queen instead. There is less adventuring in this book, although there still is some, and instead more plotting, politicking, and scheming. I love that Bobbie, Serina, Dreggs, and the crew return.

Part of the plot addresses Kianthe’s estranged relationship with her parents and the pressure their expectations placed upon her. They arrive for the wedding with Kianthe’s estranged childhood friend, and Kianthe has to have some difficult conversations and be vulnerable with her honest and apologies. This book contains the beginnings of an adorable MM romance as well. There are some twists and turns that left me excited to see where the series finale goes.

If you’ve enjoyed the series thus far, this book is not a disappointment. Rebecca Thorn has perfected the communication trope (as opposed to the miscommunication trope).
