Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer

4.0

As a vegetarian, I am undoubtedly biased in my opinions regarding this book. Eating Animals is filled with interviews, facts and anecdotes which accumulate into a powerful text. Although Foer states he's tried to remain impartial in his writing, it's nothing short but a repelling portrayal of the ins and outs of the industries. The unglamorous reality of the production of animal products prompts the reader to question the ethics of their participation. Is it worth it? Is one meal equal to the mistreatment and abuse of hundreds of millions of animals? As previously mentioned, I'm vegetarian and evade some of the moral dilemmas Foer provokes. However, I'm left questioning my stance on the lacto-ovo products I still eat. All in all, this book is nothing less than impactful and a recommended read for, well, everyone.
