this was so deliciously dark and perfect I'm dead.
The plot was soso dark and twisted and I honestly have no idea who I was rooting for so it was so awesome and exciting seeing everyone fuck each other's shit up omgg. It was so tense and the action was incredible well written aasdfghjkl. The stakes were also so high and everyone's powers had increased and there was introduction of new and exciting powers and Elites that just changed the dynamics in action and I can't it was so so good and the ending aaaaaaa that twist about the powers!!!!!!!!!!!
the characters. let me say that again. the characters. oh holy shit everyone is so grey it's beautiful. And everyone ahs twisted selfish motives that are totally understandable but also like not good (but then you ask who is good?? no one. everyone is bad but it's grey and blurred and I loVE IT). all the dynamics and feelings are so perfect I honestly have no words. And Violetta's arc and change is so incredible she is incredibly interesting I can't even describe how much I loved reading about her. I also really loved Magiano tbh like yes more pls. And Maeve omg yesyes.
And then Adelina. HOLyheck. I don't even know what to say. Her arc is incredibly well handled it turns dark gradually and she becomes more and more brutal and unfeeling and guarded and powerful and ambitious and relentless but still has weaknesses and I just can't describe how good it is. Please read this book omg.
also would like to make a note that what I didn't like about [b:The Young Elites|20821111|The Young Elites (The Young Elites, #1)|Marie Lu|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1407318399s/20821111.jpg|25217978] was the clicheness especially in the romantic aspect but that was totally turned on it's head here and made obsessive and reliant and like something dark and really not romantic and it was so good for the plot and characters honestly everything about this book was so good even the things I disliked previously. ffffffghjkjhgfghjk
This book definitely does NOT have middle book syndrome.
ps. this review is a complete mess because I'm overwhelmed by how much I loved this and this is my first 5* of the year that isn't a reread so congrats to this book, ur awesome.
