Outlander is one of my favorite series of all time and I enjoy buddy reading all of those books with my friends. Given that we are all caught up on the main series and have read the short story collection, we decided to start the Lord John series. For me, this was a bit of a disappointment. I had a really hard time keeping all of the characters straight. The plot was interesting (it read a lot like a Sherlock Holmes story) and I did want to uncover the big mystery, but I also felt like I had to force myself to pick it up and finish. I love the writing (as usual) but this just can't compare to the main Outlander storyline.
This book counts for Popsugar 2023 for a historical fiction book and for the magical readathon adventures in Aeldia 2023 for May, a book that ends on an odd page number .
