A Song of Wraiths and Ruin
by Roseanne A. Brown
"A story ends when it ends, and not a moment before. If you are unhappy with this ending, make a new one"
The story felt slow initially, but I'm glad I stuck with it. It wasn't until about halfway through that I was really hooked.
Some thoughts:
** As someone who knows what anxiety and panic attacks feel like, I feel for Malik. I enjoyed his arc and that the change wasn't so extreme as to be unbelievable; he succeeded (in a way) but the author didn't try to write away his anxiety.
** Karina is kind of a dick... Ok, so trauma and whatnot, I get it but also maybe get a good therapist for all that rage? She did grow by the end and I think the next book will bring a good conclusion to her character development.
** Does anyone else picture Idir as Voldemort but with hair? Asking for a friend
