This was cute and fun, but definitely crossed the line over into cutesy, which I didn't love. The fantasy world built throughout is enjoyable, though the world building happens quite quickly, which may not be for everyone. On the other hand, the stakes feel lower than I think was intended; even though it's a fast-paced adventure, we get a pretty good sense from the beginning of how everything is going to turn out. I did enjoy it but also struggled to stay engaged; it's a quick read but ended up taking me the better part of a week because I just wasn't that into it.
