The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins
5.0
Honestly I’m just bummed it wasn’t longer! And I guess I would love to read from some of the other characters’ perspectives, like Tigris or Lucy Gray. (Write another, Suzanne Collins!)
I have not seen the movie version, so I didn’t have any preconceived knowledge of this book or expectations. I just went in knowing it would be a prequel to a really amazing trilogy from my childhood.
I think people should set reasonable expectations before they jump into a book, instead of letting other people’s opinions hype them up just to be let down.
For me, I thought this was an excellent perspective to write from and read about, and Suzanne Collins really gives you the inner-workings of someone’s mind without falling into first person perspective (which is not my favorite to read). I think this characterization of Snow is definitely believable, especially if you read between the lines.
