The Lady's Guide to Petticoats and Piracy by Mackenzi Lee

5.0

I am genuinely speechless. This is one of the best books I have ever read and probably the most perfect sequel to ever be written. I want to erase my memory so I can experience reading this for the first time again.

I loved the plot so much, I think I may have even preferred it to the first book in the series (and that’s saying a lot because I loved that plot with all my heart!!) I literally never knew what was going to happen next and it was so fun! And the tension at the end of the book had me holding my breath and having to pause every two seconds to prepare myself and just aaaaaaaaaa I swear I can’t talk about it I’m still screaming over how good everything is and I have no. Words.

It’s actually embarrassing how many people I’ve cried to over how much I love the characters in this book…. I don’t think I’ve ever been so inspired and in awe of every single character. They were incredible - so real and well rounded and layered and empowering. I loved how they were written and their relationships were written even better. The development of Johanna and felicity’s friendship still has me reeling. Felicity and Sim has me dying and the trio as a whole honestly just owns me.

I loved that it explored how different types of women can be strong, or specifically that strength isn’t defined by how they look or act. I really want to quote at least 100 different parts that were so incredibly and beautifully written I want them tattooed on me. I LOVE THIS BOOK SO MUCH I CANT EVEN TALK IM SO AAAAAAAAAA

AND AAA MONTY AND PERCY IN THIS WERE EVERYTHINGGGGG
I love seeing their relationship so much, I actually can’t even talk about it or I’ll cry lmao and I love seeing their relationship with felicity, they’re actually the perfect trio and no one can change my mind. Would I die for them all? Yes. Yes I would.

I just loved that we got so many characters back as well as new ones I can cry over and I just damn I wish I was better at words cause this book honestly deserves a whole book written about how good it was. I felt like everything was handled so perfectly, I’m so satisfied with the way everything turned out and I will be reading this over and over and over until I die :)
