Their Fractured Light by Amie Kaufman

3.0

3.5 stars

This was a mostly satisfying conclusion but it wasn't without some problems. I definitely think These Broken Stars was my favorite in the trilogy.

I had some issues with:
* The husks. I didn't quite get why they needed to be around, what the whisper was accomplishing with them, and it felt like a lot of time was devoted to them. They weren't that scary...I mean they weren't even killing/hurting anyone, they were just searching. I am not one to shy away from a zombie book, but these were watered down boring 'zombies' and I didn't want them in this book.

* Parts got a bit slow. There was a lot of moving through wreckage and cutting their hands on broken concrete and hanging out in dirty abandoned shops. Basically, this story could've been a lot shorter.

* Sofia and Gideon had way too much insta-love. If I'm honest, all 3 books definitely have everyone getting close very fast time-wise, but I could let it slide in the first two, and at least Lilac and Tarver had to overcome their sniping to get along. But these guys just didn't do much for me. We never got to see them talk about their issues; they both just stewed in them until they kind of just...got over it.

The upsides were seeing all of our characters from other books interact and the ending turned out fine.
