The Secret History: with Related Texts by Anthony Kaldellis, Procopius

4.0

I like this translation a lot. It captures the short and sometimes awkward/repetitive nature of the unpolished Greek very well. The introduction is an excellent short essay for those who may not know too much of the historical context, with a relatively good discussion on the necessary salt-pinching for such a text. The related texts are also well chosen and give a more balanced view through Justinian's edicts, hagiographical texts, and Procopius' published works. Would recommend!
