Middle School: My Brother Is a Big, Fat Liar by Lisa Papademetriou, James Patterson

4.0

I read this out loud with my ESL student and it was a fun read. There's nothing deep here--but kids will find it funny. Georgia goes to middle school and realizes she's a pariah because her badly-behaved older brother went there first. She battles mean girls, starts a band, and learns to stick up for herself. There are a lot of challenging vocabulary words and idioms--so it was sometimes difficult for my intermediate student, but the humor made it fun.
