Darkness Becomes Her by Kelly Keaton

4.0

Ari was raised in foster care, and at the age of 17 she goes back to where it all started. Seeking to find answers about her parents she talks to one of the staff at a psych ward. The Dr there tells her that at age four her mother left her with social services, and admitted herself into Rocquemore. She was there for six months, and committed suicide the night before her twenty first birthday. Hoping to find a birth certificate that will lead her to her father she travels to New 2. After the hurricanes destroyed New Orleans several families pooled their money together and bought the once thriving city and made it their own. Some speculate it is the home of all things supernatural. She hasn't ever been across the rim, and is not prepared for the things she will meet. Keaton created a world with vampires, witches, and shapeshifters. They may not always agree, but New 2 is a safe haven for anyone who is different. Very interesting book, and I look forward to more action now that the world building is complete.
