beautifully poetic story following three generations of women from memphis as they grow up, love and learn from one another. so much joy and pain all tied up together in an environment of racism, sexism, bigotry and discrimination. i fell in love with the writing and the characters of the book, would recommend it to everyone and definitely reread it again
