The Fake Wedding Project by Pippa Grant

3.75

This fun little romcom set in a small town called Tinsel, where it's Christmas all year, was a fun play on Romeo and Juliette.

This generations long family feud between the family who makes gingerbread and the family that makes fruit cake is wearing on the younger generation. They don't want to hate one another and in fact are secretly friends.

That's when our MCs decide to get fake engaged and are determined to get to the bottom of why their families have been feuding for so long in the first place since no one seems to remember. They hope their engagement will bring the two families together and get over their problems.

This was such a fun read! There were several moments that had me giggling and the side characters were fantastic! A grumpy old grandma who keeps faking heart attacks when she doesn't get her way? Tell me that's not the epitome of small town energy.

The MCs were great together. The MMC had a crush on the FMC since they were kids, but she was the popular girl, he was the nerdy boy, and to top it off, their families hated each other.

I'm a sucker for a book with a dog as a side character and omg this one was perfect - just the laziest boi. I also loved that we got a chapter from his POV as a bonus epilogue!

I always enjoy listening to Connor Crais and CJ Bloom. They are both very talented narrators that help me get immersed in a story and always nail the punch line in humours moments.

Thank you to Brilliance Audio for the ALC!
