Elegant writing. Interesting plotline. Heavy with metaphor. Stiefvaters second offering is one of those books that can walk safely between ya and adult novel, offering enough for both. However, it can also loose you if your aren't its target reader. It's a book that keeps you thinking and not one you can put down satisfied. It leaves you with an itch you can't quite reach to scratch. I appreciate the friendships represented, and look forward to them progressing past thier cliches. I had one issue. It was with a relationship in particular was too instalove and it was a little too important to be handled the way it was. It broke an interesting character, having him come to conclusions and changing the nature of his character a little rapidly and in not a well paced or believable fashion. That is all I can say abouy that without giving too much away. The metaphor in this book (while appreciated for its content) can sometimes be a bit heavy handed, and at points it weighs the book down in places where the pacing feels like it needs to reach a crescendo. Overall though, a very enjoyable read and I am definitely ready to crack into the third book.
