This book ripped my heart out, but oh wow, did I love it. It is not an easy read, because it's a depressingly realistic portrayal of the dangerous journey immigrants take to reach the United States. The treacherous journey, the dangers these teens face on the way, the dangers they're leaving behind, all are representative of real life. I thought that the book did a good job handling this sensitive topic in a way that brings awareness to the issue and forces readers to be empathetic.
