Not bad but not amazing. I liked the first half then I took a break for 2 days and came back to it and found it such a bore. We have a sapphic lead who is pretty chill and I was happy with the newfound “strength” she got at the end. Finally, maybe she can kick ass now. The male lead Marcus was all right, kinda bland and too soft at times. Janus was interesting if not enigmatic. Military and wars and action were entertaining enough and the writing was good. Overall, hesitant to pick up the second book considering the fact that I was so fucking bored reading this towards the end that it soured my experience with the entire book.
