The Great God Pan
by Arthur Machen
Ooh I really liked this one. This one made me realise that in certain types of stories I tend to side with the "evil" ones. Books where the evil is some kind of pagan woman being hunted or controlled or judged by non-pagan idiot men. The Wicker Man for example. This book. Yeah. So it's possible I read this one differently to other people and so appreciate on a whole other level.
That said it could have been better. I mean it's pretty short and has a not very immersive narrative structure. The ending was rushed and basically skips any real confrontation. So yeah, could have been better. But it's still really enjoyable.
