Persuasion by Jane Austen
3.0
From the very onset of the novel it feels different to other Austen's works. Compared to her usual heroines Anne is much more grown up and settled and in a way not as naive (not sure whether this is the right word or not but I shall use it nevertheless). I guess the maturity that comes with age really does show.
I liked it but I'm afraid that's all I can say. There's not much going on throughout the story, definitely more of a slow burner. I only started getting butterflies towards the end of the book, and then they were really short lived. The first half dragged on and then Jane Austen decided to swiftly end everything without elaborating more into the relationship.
And yet I enjoyed it, just not as much as I hoped to but would still recommend this to anyone interested in the works of Jane Austen. Maybe not as a starting point though ♡
