Having loved the silent patient and a sucker for Greek themes in books - I was really looking forward to this book. Sadly however, it just fell flat for me.

I love Alex’s writing style, making it a quick read BUT in spite of this, the plot progressed very slowly and just didn’t feel very well executed. I didn’t really care for any of the characters and found the FMC Marianna particularly frustrating.

The final killer reveal didn’t shock me as such, but the reasons did but also felt super out of the blue.
I mean finding out the uncle and niece were having sex is going to be a shock but felt nothing prior in this book actually alluded to this in anyway other than Marianna getting a ‘feeling’ it may be related to her husbands death’

Overall, I left feeling pretty disappointed as I feel the plot had so much potential which in this instance Alex didn’t deliver sadly. Despite this, I’m not put off from reading some of his other work on future.
