Jill Is Not Happy by Kaira Rouda

medium-paced
  • Loveable characters? No

3.5

The title encapsulates the theme of the book with Jill not being happy. From the outside, you would think Jack and Jill has it all, a happy marriage, great jobs, a daughter in college and a beautiful home.

With being empty nesters, Jill suggest Jack to do a road trip. Except Jack does not want to go. Their marriage is falling apart and this road trip is total cat mouse game and both trying to outsmart each other.

I love the dark humor of the story and both Jack and Jill are just miserable people. The story is told in both of their POV and I wished it was narrated by a male and female narrator. Maryne Young did a good job but it would have been more entertaining if she had used a different voice for Jack.
