thestoryprofessor 's review for:
Life of Pi
by Yann Martel
Unlike my review for the stage adaptation of Kite Runner, this adaptation does not lack the nuance and world building of the source material. I actually find that its structure, plot, characters, themes, and then, of course, all of the theatrical storytelling choices made create a perfect theatrical tone for a story known for its incredible literary tone. A lot is still left with the design team and director to put the world together, but this playwright rendered clear parameters (mainly view prose-like stage directions and the pieces structure and pacing) for all other artists to play within.
