Dolores Claiborne
by Stephen King
Strange book this one. While I found it compelling, telling the nearly full life story of the title character, it was also written as a complete conversation - no breaks or chapter cliffhangers. I hadn’t come across this yet in a book so struggled to find places to safely stop reading!
The story was great though, no scares or horror but captivating nonetheless. Dolores was such a strong, fleshed out character that I couldn’t help but be charmed by. The story she tells has many shocking revelations (and a weird almost cross over section with another King novel ‘Gerald’s Game’) but as she explains, it all comes back to love.
