Tales from the Perilous Realm
by J.R.R. Tolkien
Very much Tolkien's world, though not necessarily Middle Earth, but far more easily accessible than his major works. His period wit is more on display here. For dog lovers Farmer Giles will be worth the price of admission. An excellent choice for someone who thinks they don't like Tolkien, or who has been intimidated by the scope of his more famous work.
