I've heard so much about this book that was honestly wary of starting it lest it not live up to expectations. Unfortunately, that was the case when I finally did get to reading it.

This is an interesting and twisty book. The trouble I had with it was that the pace was incredibly slow, glacial even, and even that was fine if I was engaged throughout it, which I was not. There are parts that are really interesting and then parts where I wished to put the book down because so little was happening. Particularly, I think, in part 3 where we veer firmly into trauma porn territory (without it really being necessary, IMO).

The pacing, the archaic language (which is honestly difficult to understand at some points) took me out of this book more frequently than I would have liked. If it was faster paced and honestly, shorter, it would be an excellent thriller with some fun twists.
