How to review Donna Tartt's books? This was haunting, expansive, and filled with absolutely unlikeable morally grey characters that you are somehow still sympathetic to. It's an extreme exploration of the "tortured artist" and how viewing everything through the eyes of beauty and aesthetics and experimentation can become dangerous and isolating. I couldn't put it down and I'm so sad it's over.
