12,000 Miles in the Nick of Time: A Semi-Dysfunctional Family Circumnavigates the Globe by Mark Jacobson

4.0

This book was as much about being a parent (especially of teenagers) as it was about travel. The author took a 3 month journey with his wife and three children (ranging in age from nine to sixteen. They flew from their home in Brooklyn to Thailand and from there traveled to Cambodia, India, Nepal, Jordan, Egypt, Paris and London. The author's ruminations on time, parenting, travel, and aging are nicely balanced with stories about the family's experiences. This is decidedly not a typical travelogue but rather a philosophical journey with travel as it's backdrop. I really enjoyed it.
