Let me just stare at this cover for a second . . . such a good one. Okay, now that's done, I can report this was a mostly fun ride, with loads of longing/yearning for the angst lovers out there.

It started out with a bang and I was having a great time, but did find that some scenes near the midway mark got a little too graphic (gore/violence-wise) for my tastes, so I had to take a bit of a break and come back when I was feeling up to it.

Despite that hiccup, it is a strong start to the series; I'm definitely intrigued by the rest of the team, and will enjoy revisiting Sebastian and Flynn in future installments, too.

I will say that I didn't always have the best handle on the tone the author was intending, as we rocketed between humor and darker themes and sexy times and back, but it was certainly never boring! (I also am not the biggest fan of
a late in the game third POV,
but I think this was one of the better uses of it, but just a note in case anyone else is not into that.) This isn't my typical fare, but I'm ultimately glad I stepped outside my comfort zone. This is a gorgeous cover that I think will live up to its promise for most people.
