This book pretty much follows season one of the TV show, which is quite a bit of information to stuff inside one book. However, it does cut some stories or has Henry briefly re-account the basics as he tells it to Emma.
I did have some issues with the way the author chose to portray some of the scenes, and I feel that sometimes there was more telling of events than taking the opportunity to delve into Emma's thoughts and personality more. There's a part where Regina outright calls Emma a slut, which to the best of my knowledge was never said flat out, and I kind of eyebrow raised over that choice - yes, Regina is an awful terrible human being, and she certainly implied she felt this way about Emma in the series at some points, but she's much more subtle than that, so I don't really know why it was chosen to be added, but whatever.
It's good for what it is, but I'd hoped for a bit more.
