I love a fairytale reimagining so it was inevitable that I would thoroughly enjoy this twist on the classic story of Sleeping Beauty. 

I liked that Briar got a more prominent role in this retelling, given that in the source material she gets cursed and then spends most of the story asleep, however my favourite character was Sel. I thought that Sel was really well written, especially in the way her life was pulled into a completely different direction than she had wanted. 

However I felt that the ending left a few things unresolved (and as far as I am aware this was a standalone?) and I wish there had been more involvement of the villain as that felt like it wrapped up far too quickly at the end.
