This is only my second book by this author and I enjoyed the first one, although cheesy, and then she lost me here.
The characters just did not make any sense to me at all. They did not seem to act true to their personality.
The hero is a very stoic man that lives in a very rigid world and even forces his employees into it. This same man then somehow starts dirty-talk with his wake-up call?! Later he says "rules are meant to be broken" and other odd things that happen.
The heroine has similar issues staying "in character". And their romance just did not feel real, nor can I get behind this idea that all these strong women really want a guy to be an asshole to them. On one side the H is allegedly this spunky woman that is independent and does not take crap from anyone, and then she immediately gets turned on when he starts ordering her around.
The cliche of the helpless damsel in distress that should be rescued by this stern billionaire is...yawn...quite boring and then would only work with some strong writing. That was definitely not the case here.
