What I Talk about When I Talk about Running: A Memoir by Haruki Murakami
reflective
medium-paced
4.0
I quite enjoyed this, despite not liking the other Murakami book I've read (Kafka on the Shore).
He has some interesting reflections on running and how it shapes his personal and professional life. I enjoyed the anecdotes sprinkled throughout, ranging from marathons in Greece and the U.S. to triathlons and ultramarathons in Japan. In between these he grapples with the difficulties of ageing in sport and the challenge of chasing fulfillment despite declining performance. This was published in 2007, and a quick Google suggests that he's still running marathons well into his seventies.
