The Mapping of Love and Death by Jacqueline Winspear

5.0

This is one of my favorites in the whole series! I'm so excited to start the next book, and can't believe a new book will be out next month! There's something so captivating for me with this WWI time period and I adore the characters and this particular mystery was my favorite of the whole series. It was very interesting and I loved how it all tied together. I had my suspicions and they were part correct, but there was the unexpected twist, along with a few other unexpected twists at the end of this book. I also want to watch the Downton Abbey tv show that is British, and have ordered them off Amazon. I have gotten totally sucked into this time period and love it!

I have a few spoilers, scroll below for those (or skip them if you haven't read this!):

SO sad that Maurice died. I felt like it was coming, but I thought he would hold on for another book. I ::love:: James and WAHOO James for making the move with Maisie! I suspect that the secret service is going to want Maisie to work with them and I wonder how it will effect her current work and Billy. I was thrilled to see that Maurice left his estate to Maisie, and I hope that Maisie gives Billy some money so he can do his passage to Canada and have a nice life there, although, I will be so sad to see him go. I wonder if Maisie could offer Billy her flat in Pilmco... now that would be awesome... that is what I'm really hoping for! I hope Maisie doesn't choose work and career over James. He's perfect for her in every way and I love how they relate and how long they've known each other. And how James was at Pricilla's house was adorable. I hope Maisie doesn't sidestep this perfect lovematch for her career.... we'll see. Hopefully she can have it all, although, I wonder if she marries James, if she will have kids, and how that will work with her career. I can't imagine her not working...
