Blood to Dust by L.J. Shen

5.0

I have a book that I write notes for myself about books I've read. Little notes to jog my memory on the characters, the plot, what I loved/hated. I might use half a page, usually one page, rarely 2 pages. This was a definite 2 page note book.

It gripped me from the smashing of an evil man's head, through Prescott being taken by the man in the Guy Fawkes mask, the hour glass smashing, the escaping, the whole damn thing.

I read Sparrow and thought it was amazing. Blood to Dust hits the same 5 star plus mark for me. Perfect story telling. Twisting plot. Unexpected redemption. Fantastic character building. A must read!

Prescott was one of those badass bitches like Deanna Madden or Margo Moon or Savannah Raine that takes no shit. Tough as nails. She is my new hero. She is Country Club, Silver Spoon, she is Pea.

"They think of me as a rich bitch, a frail little toy. Little do they know that I'm not a toy, I'm a storm. And I'm going to rip their lives apart."

""The best life to live is the one people will judge you for." She brushes her upper lip with the tip of her tongue."Dance with your demons, love carelessly. Selflessly. And most importantly, love yourself, even at your worst.""

Nate Vella - Beat, Guy Fawkes, I feel his heart beating in every page of this book. He is everything.

"I'm a sad boy, a broken man and a lonely soul. A barbaric savage, a poet with a heart of gold and a nobody who is desperate to become a somebody."

"Some people collect stamps. Some coins. Taxidermy. Fucking cards. I collect regrets. They don't take up much space, not physically, anyway. But inside...they occupy. They eat away. They ruin. Because that's the thing about regrets. They're mistakes that left scars. Vicious, sensitive, searing wounds."

LJ Shen is a brilliantly gifted writer.
