Luiselli makes esoteric brilliance look effortless. Her story of the strangely sympathetic Highway is on one level an easy light read and on another layered with philosophical references I’ve barely even heard of. Questioning the reliability of stories we tell ourselves and even the language with which we build them, Luiselli has left me with my head spun and an uncomfortable awareness of the teeth in my own mouth.
