All the Colours of the Dark by Chris Whitaker

4.5

There’s so much going on with this one… the prose took me a bit to settle into, it’s not the easiest style to follow and I sometimes felt like the “voice” was really just broken sentences. BUT the mystery, the characters, and the heart of this book won me over. It’s set in small-town 1970s America, and while the summary of the book talks about serial killers and murder mysteries, that’s really just the framing device. This book is also asks big questions: what is the point of religion? Who decides good vs evil? It’s a long one, but I think it’s worth it. I couldn’t put it down at the end.
