I don’t know what I was expecting when I started this book, but it absolutely blew me away.
I’m not sure how it took me so long to read something by V.E. (Victoria) Schwab, after all this was right up my street.
In the end my attention was brought to her writing by some of the booksta accounts I follow and the noise is deserved. This was unlike anything I’ve read before, sci-fi / fantasy with a massive dose of revenge. The tension in the last few chapters was ramped up perfectly.
The characters are complicated but I found myself rooting for Victor, Mitch, Sydney (and of course Dol). After all anyone who claims they are working Gods will is usually a dick (Eli much!?!).
