Silent Defender by Nikki Worrell

5.0

I loved Nikki's main character Mags. He is a defender for the new hockey franchise, The Boardwalk Breakers. What makes Magnus unique is that he has been deaf since the age of 15. I never thought about the possibility of a hearing impaired player and the challenges he faces on and off the ice.

Magnus has a chip on his shoulders. He despises reporters and refuses to vocalize his answers, relying on an interpreter. His only weakness in Jennie, a network reporter. He still doesn't speak to her but he does respect her.

Magus struggles with many things. Asking Jeannie out is one of them. Boy did he bumble through it and fail. The way she puts him in his place alone is worth the read. It was fantastic. Have no fear there are a lot of great moments within the pages for Silent Defender.

They are a relationship made for the big screen. The struggles are real. The challenges are ones many of us can identify with in our own lives. I can picture Mags running, searching, screaming Jeannie's name, so much fear radiating that he can't comprehend that he can't hear her screams.

Mags and Jeannie have many challenges to face. Life changing decisions will have to be made. The author has created such strong characters that you know that the love will grow, and the story will keep getting better. And boy did it!!!!!
