The second book of The Mistborn series came at a difficult time personally, but I have never been more grateful for his story. There is so much that is revealed in this book, despite its slower pace than the original. I also think that the beautiful parts of this book are in its uncertainty, rooted within the characters, and within the overall understanding of everything. The amazing thing about Brandon Sanderson and his writing is that he balances that line between revealing everything to his reader and placing things beneath the surface. I’m writing this review a month after I finished the book but I can state that the understanding of the Darkness and the Mist are so visually characterized I knew there was no way it couldn’t be an alive being. From the very beginning, I think there was a living character within its description. Also, the continuing character journey of Sazed is perhaps my favourite of the overall path. Though we lose a lot in this text I am curious to see what continues.
