A River Enchanted
by Rebecca Ross
hopeful
mysterious
medium-paced
Loved this so much! Cozy fantasy. Perfect balance of vibes and a plotline/story. MC is a musician and his music has the power to call sea/earth/fire/wind spirits (nothing more i could love tbh). A kind of mystery plotline (though very obvious). Perfect for the summer-to-fall transition i think!
High fantasy lovers don't come looking for a thousand plotlines and the most expansive technical world building; romantasy lovers don't come looking for smut. So basically, this is pretty close to my ideal fantasy ahahhaha.
This was a beautiful read but I would have liked to have seen a bit more structure to the world and magic/enchantment system because some moments felt a little too convenient. Bonus points would have been awarded if the answer to the mystery wasn't so obvious. The most unrealistic part of the whole book was that the MC's harp falls into the water twice and it only breaks down at the end of the book??
