The pacing of this installment in the series is more akin to the camping chapters in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows than anything in the ACOTAR series. It's a lot of reflection, a lot of deliberating and setting up the plot for the final book, but I did enjoy the character development in this far more than in the first 2. The first 2 books were so set on a fast-paced plot, that it was almost impossible for the characters to take a breather, let alone recognize any growth enough for it to be considered great character development. But after finishing Marked, it's pretty cool to think of where Dahlia was at the beginning versus where she is now.
