The Collective by Alison Gaylin

5.0

Camille Gardner, five years after the death of her daughter Emily is still trapped by her grief. Her marriage also broke up in the wake of Emily’s death. But Camille isn’t just just passively grieving - oh no, she’s absolutely livid, she’s raging and she’s as angry as hell - the boy she holds responsible for Emily never faced justice, he’s free to carry on with his life and what’s more he gets awarded a humanitarian award for public services which is enough to tip Camille over the edge. After creating a scene at the awards ceremony with her meltdown Camille is approached by a mysterious woman who hands her a business card which leads Camille to a group of women whose children have lost their lives at the hands of others either directly or indirectly.

But this group is no support group - this group is The Collective and these women want to exact revenge on those who have taken their children - woman who weaponise their grief through the Dark Web. As Camille’s involvement gets deeper and deeper she begins to realise that she herself is in grave danger - now that she’s in, can she get out? And can she get out alive?

This is a fabulously addictive read, it’s deliciously dark and utterly compelling. I could have read this in one sitting if life hadn’t got in the way - I loved it! I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this one!
