Firstly, thank you to @netgalley and @harpervoyager for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was my first Sue Lynn Tan novel, and Idk… I think I expected more out of it, so I guess I was mildly disappointed. BUT I still most def plan to read her Daughter of the Moon Goddess series.
The world building was probably my favorite part. I will say the writing was beautiful and very lush with lovely prose, but there were parts that were a bit cliche and cheesy…The romance felt a bit forced and kind of rushed with a touch of insta-love, which I am not a fan of. I did have trouble connecting with the characters and truly felt that the plot was a bit lackluster.
The “big” plot twist was intriguing enough for me to keep reading, but the prose def was the reason for me finishing the book. Would I recommend it…. probably not?…
