Rating: 4.25 β
Tropes: dating apps / mystery / dark comedy / small-town secrets
Chose this book because I'm in my dating app era and am constantly deleting the apps due to the mediocrity of men on them, so figured this book looked good. Why not give me another reason to not want to use dating apps? I enjoyed the way the book was written, with flashbacks to the dates after the men show up dead. It was not hard to follow at all.
Well, I thought I was good at solving murder mysteries but this one threw me for a spin multiple times and I'm not even mad about it. Definitely was not expecting the ending to play out like that.
Also, among all the horrible dates, there is a slow burn thing going on with Gwen and one of the detectives and I found myself cheering for that. Very satisfied that there wasn't too much spice in this as the book definitely focused on the murders and solving the case.
Note: I read physical books while listening to the audiobook and it seems like I must have had different audio/text editions since some of the text was different. The book seemed to have an American spin, while the audio was English (e.g. hen do = bachelorette party, Quavers = Cheetos).
