The story here takes place in an exclusive Ski chalet in the French Alps. Erin and Danny are the Chalet staff and their guests for this week are the rich and entitled staff and founders of the latest new app craze ‘Snoop’. An app which allows you to listen along live to other users music stream, including that of your favourite celebrities (actually a clever premise for an app, I’d use it!). It is apparent from the get go that all is not happy in the Snoop camp and after an initial first meeting involving the words ‘corporate buyout’ things start to take a turn for the worse when one of the co-founders goes missing whilst out on the ski slopes. From here, following an avalanche that sees the guests get cut off from the rest of the world with no form of communication, they start to fall one by one. This is the third book I have read from Ruth Ware and unfortunately I felt it lacked the twists and turns of my previous reads by her. The killer was very obvious from the off and the plot twist I was expecting never came. There were an awful lot of characters to try and keep track of, several were definitely surplus to requirements... I’m looking at you Carl. This definitely reminded me of The Guest List by Lucy Foley, but lacked the plot twists I was looking for. Having said all that I did still enjoy reading this book and easily read it to the end quite quickly.
