The Lonely Hearts Hotel by Heather O'Neill

5.0

I don't know that I've ever been at such a loss for words yet so compelled to find them. Everything about this book is emotion. The characters, their adventures, the prose, every single word....pure emotion. I've honestly never read anything like it. Even the dialogue is written in such a way that you can't experience it as an observer, you're forced to feel every single interaction, the pain, the joy, the fear, the excitement, the shame, the curiosity...all of it. It's like...if someone asked me to imagine a story that makes me FEEL like Leonard Cohen's Dance Me To The End Of Love, it would be this story. I kinda want to lower the rating of all my other books just so this one can sit alone.
