The Awkward Black Man by Walter Mosley
4.0

I made a resolution to read more short stories this year (part of my effort to also write more short stories), so this recent release was a good one to pick from my to read shelf. This is only the second Walter Mosley book I've read. I usually find short story collections uneven in terms of how much I like each story, and this was no exception. However, I found a number of the stories here truly moving - many of them quietly and subtly so. My favorites were

Almost Alyce
Local Hero
Otis
Showdown on the Hudson
Reply to a Dead Man

Hopefully these will be the first of many more short stories I'll be reading this year.
