The Strain by Guillermo del Toro, Chuck Hogan
3.0
Ok. I don't know if I can be unbiased in this review, because it was pretty gory and terrifying, and it gave me anxiety reading it. So it's hard to write positively about a book that you just wanted to hurry up and finish so you could stop being scared at night. That being said, I still didn't want to put this book down. The chapters are broken up into short mini-stories, so it almost feels like a movie switching from scene to scene or character to character. A lot of books like this spend forever building up a backstory, so they take a long time to get going. This one jumped right into it, and you learned bits and pieces as you went along. Also the ending was not too drawn out (although a little frustrating).
But I have to say that I'm most likely not going to continue on with the other two books in the series. I'm too much of a baby to subject myself to that all over again.
