Phantasma by Kaylie Smith
5.0
4.5 ⭐️ One of the best scary + romantasy books I've ever read!
This is one of those rare books that actually lives up to the hype. I went in with high expectations, and it delivered in almost every way. Sure, there were moments when the pacing felt a bit slow, but the tension and angst were so perfectly balanced with just the right amount of spice that I couldn’t put it down. Navigating Phantasma alongside the FMC was an absolute ride—it’s dark, eerie, and utterly captivating. The world-building is rich and immersive, filled with gore, blood, magic, and supernatural beings that kept me on the edge of my seat.
What really stood out to me was how well the single POV was executed. I’m usually a fan of multiple POVs in romance books because I love getting inside the heads of all the characters, but this book proved that single POV can work brilliantly when done right. The FMC’s perspective was so compelling and well-written that I didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything. It added to the intensity of the story, making every twist and turn feel even more personal and gripping.
Now, let’s talk about the spice.
