Echo Mountain by Lauren Wolk

I really enjoyed this book. Ellie is a strong little girl and I like being able to see her growth throughout the story. Her father is in a coma and she is finding weird carvings in the woods. She's seeing faces in the trees watching her, it is so strange, but a beautiful book.

I like how this book was about what happened during the stock market crash of 1934. Successful families like Ellie's had a tough time because they couldn't keep their businesses open when no one had money to pay them for goods.

The age group for this book is 9-12 and I would specifically recommend this book for girls within that age range. I think it would be good for little girls to read about a girl their age and what she had to do for her family.

I didn't notice very much diversity in this book. I didn't notice any POC, but many of the characters shared the "poor" characteristic.
